Body Found In Brooksville Gated Community

BROOKSVILLE — A body was found Thursday night in a gated community in Brooksville, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

At 10:14 p.m, deputies responded to a call reporting the body on the front lawn at 4419 Calequin Drive, said Colonel Michael Maurer. The dead man is young, he said, and white. The three-bedroom home, located in the Hernando Oaks subdivision on Powell Road near U.S. 41, is valued just above $115,000, according to property records.

Patricia Bringuel, 67, of Morgan Hill, California, bought the property for retirement, she said, and rented it less than a month ago to a young man, his girlfriend and their infant son. The couple was from the Midwest, she said. Her granddaughter, the property manager, interviewed the family, but Bringuel herself never met the couple and had planned to make a trip to Florida at the end of September to be introduced.

“I’m a nervous wreck,” said Bringuel. “I’ve been up all night.”

Bringuel said the Sheriff’s Office told her only that a “terrible accident” happened at the house.
