FHP Looking For Driver In Hit-And-Run Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian in Hernando County Saturday night.

At about 8:50 p.m., David Matthew Smith, 44, and Dannielle Nicole Gibbons, 25, both of Spring Hill, were walking along the grassy edge of the road on the east side of Landover Blvd., north of Thornberry Drive in Hernando County.

A dark-colored, late-model car with suspected heavy front-right-end-and headlight damage went onto the shoulder and hit Smith, according to a news release. Smith sustained serious injuries and emergency workers transported him to Oak Hill Hospital, and then Bayonet Point.

FHP asks that any witnesses to this crash or anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver call (813)631-4020 or contact Crime Stoppers.
