VIDEO SHOWS FLORIDA OFFICER KICK CHILD TO THE GROUND WHILE BOY IS RESTRAINED

Boynton Beach police are investigating after a video surfaced of one of their officers kicking a child’s legs from under him while the child’s hands appear to be restrained behind his back. A police spokeswoman says one officer has been placed on administrative duty after the footage was found online Tuesday. The video shows two boys apparently being arrested. An officer approaches one and appears to kick him, causing the boy to fall to the ground.

EMPLOYEES AT TWO ORLANDO HOSPITALS BEING MONITORED AFTER COMING INTO CONTACT WITH PATIENT INFECTED BY MERS

Health officials say 15 hospital workers at Dr. Phillip Hospital and another five employees at Orlando Regional Medical Center are being monitored at home for fever, chills and muscle aches after coming into contact with a Saudi resident infected by MERS, or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. None of the employees have tested postive for the mysterious virus.

Army Col. Parker Schenecker was deployed in January 2011, when police say Julie Schenecker killed the couple’s two teenagers. Parker Schenecker testified for the defense Tuesday, telling a Tampa jury about how he met Julie in the military in 1990. As the years went on, she visited doctors around the world and even entered into a nine-month clinical trial for her depression at the National Institute of Mental Health at one point. Parker Schenecker said he received updates about her condition during that treatment, but otherwise she wouldn’t allow him access to her mental health records or her doctors.

RUBIO TO PITCH OLDER VOTERS, YOUNGER WORKERS ON LATEST MIDDLE CLASS POLICY PRESCRIPTION

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio planned a speech Tuesday on how older Americans would fare in retirement. He was proposing an overhaul of federal programs to help younger workers save for their retirement, as well as protect programs for older voters who had assumed those programs would be there after they ended their careers. Rubio is working to build his policy credentials after a bipartisan immigration plan he helped push through the Senate stalled in the House.

TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH DOUBLE HOMICIDE NEAR SCENIC TALLAHASSEE TRAIL

According to an arrest affidavit, Tallahassee Police got a tip about a recorded phone call in which Joseph Oakes told his ex-wife that he had killed a man and a woman with a hammer. Police say Oakes also emailed his ex-wife photos of the dead and dismembered bodies. The bodies were recovered Monday under a pile of trash near the St. Marks Trail. Police have not identified the victims. Oakes was held Tuesday on two counts of murder.
