21 INJURED WHEN CAR HITS CHURCH
Police say 21 people were injured when a car apparently malfunctioned and slammed into the Second Haitian Baptist Church as an Easter service was about to get underway Sunday night. About 200 people were inside the church. Police are investigating but said it appears to be a horrible accident. Many of the injured were taken to hospitals, but officials say no surgeries were required.
DEPUTY SHOOTS MAN DURING SCUFFLE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA
A man is in critical condition after an Osceola County Sheriff’s deputy shot him during a scuffle Sunday night. The deputy says he was trying to arrest the man on a violation of probation charge when the man tried to flee. After a brief altercation, the deputy fired, hitting the man.
HOUSE TO VOTE ON INSURANCE FOR GUN OWNERS
The Florida House is scheduled to vote on a bill Monday that would make it illegal for insurance companies to deny policies or charge higher rates solely based on gun ownership.
SAME-SEX LAWSUIT COUPLE TO ATTEND EASTER EGG ROLL
One of the couples involved in a lawsuit that is challenging Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage, is attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.
Melanie and Vanessa Alenier are attending Monday’s event with their son. The event is hosted by the first family.
