SENTENCING FOR MAN CONVICTED IN FBI TERROR FINANCING STING
Sentencing is set for a man convicted in South Florida of supporting international terrorism in a case where the FBI went undercover on Internet chat rooms to pose as a terror financing middleman. Gufran Mohammed, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from India, faces up to 15 years behind bars Thursday.
FLORIDA TOURISM KEEPS GROWING
Florida keeps getting a record number of visitors. Gov. Rick Scott will announce Thursday that nearly 24 million tourists visited the state during the third quarter of 2014. That’s a 3.5 percent jump over the same time period a year ago.
SENTENCING DELAYED FOR POLO MOGUL IN DUI DEATH
Sentencing has been delayed for a South Florida polo mogul found guilty in a fatal drunken-driving crash. A judge said Wednesday he needs more time in the case of 51-year-old John Goodman, who was convicted in a retrial last month of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
DEATH PENALTY POSSIBLE FOR MAN CONVICTED OF KILLING WAITRESS
A South Florida man is facing the death penalty after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder in the savage 2005 slaying of a Miami-area waitress. Jurors deliberated about nine hours before convicting Rafael Andres on Wednesday in the killing of 31-year-old Yvette Farinas.
