PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities say a boat propeller cut off a man’s legs below the knees after he fell into the water at Port Canaveral.
Fire rescue officials tell Florida Today that the man fell from a boat as that he was trying to tie to a barge Tuesday night and was injured underwater by a spinning propeller that caused a “bi-lateral double amputation below the knee.”
The man was taken to a hospital. Brendan McMillin of the Canaveral Pilots Association says the man’s co-workers helped rescue him.
The Coast Guard also is investigating.
