FL Company to Remove Costa Concordia

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ A Florida company has won the bid to remove the capsized Costa Concordia cruise ship off the coast of Tuscany.

Pompano Beach-based Titan Salvage is expected to begin work that could take a year early next month.

Thirty-two passengers and crew members died on Jan. 13 after the captained veered off course and steered the ship closer to shore in an apparent stunt.

Two remain missing.

According to its website, Titan Salvage has performed over 350 salvage and wreck removal projects within the last three decades.

It will partner Italian marine contractor Micoperi in completing the salvage job.
