Fire in Restroom on Clearwater Beach

A fire broke out in a restroom near Clearwater Beach’s Pier 60 early this morning.

According to Clearwater Fire Rescue, firefighters responded before 4 a.m. to the facilities near the pier and the roundabout that, upon arrival, fire fighters found fully engulfed in flames.

It took 15 minutes to put the fire out and the State Fire Marshal and arson investigators were on scene gathering evidence.

Officials say witnesses saw a transient sleeping in the restroom. Another witness reported seeing teenagers running from the facility just before the fire broke out.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
