FDA Releases Final Ruling For Calorie Counts On Menus

For those of you who don’t have this yet in your cities, the Food and Drug Administration is announcing new rules Tuesday that will require chain restaurants and other retailers that sell prepared foods to put calorie counts on menus and menu boards.

So when you buy that Triple Whopper w/Cheese at Burger King, that 1200 calorie count will be right there next to the price. And that Hardee’s Monster Thickburger, yes, you’ll have to read that 1300 calorie count as well. (though if you’re ordering a Monster Thickburger, one suspects you already kind of know what you’re in for) The new rules will apply to chain restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, and even vending machines.
