TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ A former Florida A&M University band member is pleading no contest to disorderly conduct for his role in a hazing incident that took place last September.
Brandon Benson was one of four Marching 100 members arrested for punching and paddling pledges of a band club called the Clones.
Benson was sentenced Monday by a Leon County judge to 75 hours of community service.
Benson was given a lesser charge because the incident took place at his house but he did not strike the pledges.
Another former band member – Hakeem Birch – pleaded no contest in May to a misdemeanor hazing charge and was sentenced to three days in a work camp.
Birch and Benson were arrested in January along with Denise Bailey and Anthony Mingo on misdemeanor hazing charges.
