Escaped Tarpon Inmates Turn Selves In

Authorities say two men who escaped from the Tarpon Springs Work Release Center have turned themselves in.

Police say 30-year-old Ronald Williams and 24-year-old Levar Murray left the work center about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police spokesman Barb Templeton said the men weren’t working at the time of the escape. The work center is a medium-security facility for inmates nearing the end of their sentences. The center provides job skills to help the inmates in their return to society.

Investigators say both men turned themselves in shortly after midnight.

Department of Corrections records show Williams was sentenced for cocaine sale and possession. Murry was convicted on cocaine and heroin possession charges.

Williams has a twin brother, Donald Williams, who also escaped from a work release center in St. Petersburg on April 2nd.
