Ousted Hillsborough County school superintendent MaryEllen Elia now has a new job.
Elia was hired Tuesday to be New York State education commissioner.
The $250 thousand a year post comes months after Elia was fired by the Hillsborough School Board under less than clear circumstances.
Elia had been described as unwilling to bend to the board’s will and was generally difficult to work with.
Elia’s new job is a kind of homecoming; she is from the Buffalo area.
Elia was paid more than a million dollars in severance when she was let go here.
