Ebola Death Toll Tops 5,000

The number of people killed by the worst-ever outbreak of Ebola has risen above the five-thousand mark, to 5,160. That’s the latest official number from the World Health Organization.

The body adds the frequency of new cases no longer appears to be increasing nationally in Guinea and Liberia, but it remains high in Sierra Leone. The outbreak is thought to have infected more than 14,000 people, almost all in west Africa. Also, the deaths of three more people in Mali have been reported in the past day.
