Man Jumps Off Bridge, Causes I-4 To Close

Update: On March 31st at 7:07 AM, a 32-year-old male from Auburndale jumped off of the SR-559 overpass in Polk County and landed on the eastbound lanes of I-4. Subsequently, he was struck by an eastbound 2014 Ford F-150. Troopers arrived shortly thereafter and discovered the male subject was deceased at the scene. Currently, all eastbound traffic is being diverted at the exit of SR-559 and can re-enter eastbound on the eastbound on-ramp. The driver of the 2014 Ford pickup, Sean Klotzbach, 42, of Dover was not injured during the collision. I-4 is expected to re-open by 10:00 AM.

Eastbound travel on Interstate 4 in Polk County at County Road 559 has been closed as a result of a law enforcement investigation involving a body in the roadway.

Travelers in the area are advised to select alternate routes through Polk City.
