On April 18th at 3:18 AM, Freddie Massie III was traveling southbound on I-275 approaching Busch Blvd (Exit 50) in his 2014 Lincoln.
Roadway construction crews had closed all southbound lanes with traffic cones, construction barrels and road closed signs.
A stationary marked FHP patrol car facing north, was posted within the closed portion of the roadway with emergency lighting engaged. Vehicle 1 failed to exit the roadway as directed and traveled past the construction equipment and into the work zone. Once in the work zone, Vehicle 1 collided with Vehicle 2. Both vehicles came to rest in the closed portion of the roadway.
Trooper Preudhomme sustained minor injuries and was not transported for medical care. Freddie Massie III of Tampa, Florida was arrested at the scene of the crash for DUI Injury and DUI Property Damage with a BAC of 0.21.
He was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail.
The roadway re-opened at 6:30 AM.
