Disease Spreading Through Local Daycares

Bay area doctors are telling parents of young children to be on the lookout for hand, foot, and mouth disease.

They say day cares are hotbeds for the illness, which shows up as mouth lesions, plus hand and foot skin rashes.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is most often spread in diaper changing areas and from toys that have been drooled on.

The Florida Department of Children and Families inspects daycare facilities three times a year to keep the illness under control.
