ST. PETERSBURG — A new tropical depression threatens to bring flooding to parts of eastern Mexico and is expected to strengthen to a tropical storm.
According to Bay News 9 Meteorologist Juli Marquez, the depression’s maximum sustained winds early Friday are near 35 mph. It is expected to become a tropical storm later in the day. Ingrid is the next name on the storm list.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Mexico’s coast from Coatzacoalcos to Barra de Nautla. The storm is expected to dump 10 to 15 inches of rain over a large part of eastern Mexico with 25 inches in some places.
Meanwhile far out over the Atlantic, Hurricane Humberto is losing strength and is expected to weaken to a tropical storm later in the day. Also, Gabrielle has weakened to a tropical depression.
