DELEON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Officials say a central Florida woman died from injuries she sustained while trying to train a mule to pull a cart.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reports that 51-year-old Kimberly Smith and the animal’s owner, 71-year-old David Cram, were riding in a cart behind the mule Saturday evening when something spooked it. The mule ran off, eventually causing the cart to overturn.
Both Smith and Cram were rushed to a Daytona Beach hospital, where Smith later died. Cram remained hospitalized.
