Man Smashes ATM Machine With Hatchet

A man has been accused of smashing an ATM machine with a hatchet after being caught on surveillance video.

According to the South Daytona Police Department, 30-year-old Phillip Moore was caught at the SunTrust Bank on South Ridgewood Avenue just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning slamming an ATM machine with a hatchet and ripping it open.

No injuries were reported and there was no money stolen from the ATM machine but Moore did cause more than $1,000 of damage to the ATM.

He was identified by investigators and arrested just after 12 a.m. Monday morning. He was also charged with with one count of burglary with a structure or dwelling, and one count of criminal mischief with damage to property.
