EXECUTION SCHEDULED FOR MAN CONVICTED OF RAPE, MURDER

Florida is scheduled to execute 42-year-old Johnny Shane Kormondy, who was convicted of the 1993 murder of a Pensacola banker and the rape of his wife during a botched robbery. The execution by lethal injection is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Florida State Prison. Kormondy and two associates invaded the Pensacola home of Gary and Cecilia McAdams in 1993. Gary was fatally shot, and Cecilia was raped. The two other men were convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

SOUTH FLORIDA MUSEUM IN BRADENTON PLANS EXPANSION

The South Florida Museum has announced plans for a $12 million expansion. If fundraising is successful, construction will start next year. The museum will add 30,000 square feet to the 60,000-square-foot campus, including four classrooms, an outdoor area for 2- to 8-year-olds for hands-on activities, more aquarium tanks to showcase other marine life, a new store and cafe, and a 5,000-square-foot hall for major traveling exhibits that the museum does not now have the capacity to attract.

WOMAN DEAD FOLLOWING CRASH WITH SCHOOL BUS

A central Florida woman is dead following a crash last week with a Flagler County school bus and another car. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 23-year-old ElisaMarie Amber Homan died Tuesday at a Daytona Beach hospital. FHP says Homan was trying to make a left turn at a Palm Coast intersection Friday morning when she was rear-ended by another car and pushed into the path of the oncoming bus.

REWARD OFFERED IN CASE OF INJURED BROWN PELICANS

A marine construction company that uses the pelican in its logo is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case of injured brown pelicans in the Florida Keys. Officials say more than a dozen brown pelicans have recently been found with their pouches slit, causing them to starve and die.

DEPUTIES: 3 DEAD IN DOMESTIC SHOOTING OUTSIDE RESTAURANT

Authorities say three people are dead following a murder-suicide at a north Florida restaurant. Putnam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Hancel Woods said the victims were found dead in the parking lot of Corky Bell’s Seafood and Steaks on Wednesday night. Deputies had responded to reports of gunfire outside the restaurant in East Palatka.
