Disney Expanding ESPN Wide World of Sports

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Disney will add playing fields and other enhancements to its ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Disney officials announced the expansion plans Tuesday, saying the goal is to provide athletes with a one-of-a-kind sports experience.

Orlando television station WESH reports the project will add 25 acres to the 270-acre complex and should be completed by early 2012. The new playing fields will be used for football, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey.

Officials say additional lights, digital video board and audio systems will also be part of the project.
