Central Florida Collects Unwanted Guns

Central Florida law enforcement will be collecting unwanted guns in exchange for gift cards Thursday during the annual ‘Kicks 4 Guns’ event.

Citizens can drop off their unloaded weapons with no questions asked at 13 locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A limited number of gift cards are available at each location.

Once the gift cards run out, officers will stay at the locations to collect guns from citizens who wish to get rid of the firearms but won’t receive a gift card.

Last year officers collected a record 2,230 weapons. TheLake County Sheriff’s Officecollected the most — 398 firearms

Four agencies — Daytona Beach Police, Orlando Police,Osceola County Sheriff’s Office andVolusia County Sheriff’s Office — are offering to pick up unwanted weapons from senior citizens or homebound persons, Bergin said.

The Kicks 4 Guns drop-off locations are:

Daytona PD*: 308 S. Martin Luther King Blvd, Daytona Beach (Dickerson Center)

Kissimmee PD: 2211 W Vine St, Kissimmee (K-Mart/Big Lot parking lot)

Lake County SO: 15855 W SR 50, Clermont (Sheriff’s Office substation)

Orlando PD*: Church St and Tampa Ave, Orlando (Citrus Bowl)

Orange County SO: 4603 W Colonial Drive, Orlando (Orange County Fairgrounds)

Osceola County SO*: 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee (Osceola Heritage Park)

Ocoee PD: 476 Ocoee Commerce Parkway, Ocoee (HighPoint Church)

Palm Bay PD: 550 Riviera Dr NE, Palm Bay (Riviera Park)

Seminole County SO: 15655 Highway 17-92, Casselberry (next to Casselberry Exchange)

Seminole County SO: 2300 W Lake Mary Blvd, Sanford (Old Albertsons Plaza)

Volusia County SO*: 3150 E New York Av, Deland (Volusia County Fairgrounds)

Winter Park PD**: 1050 W Morse, Winter Park (Winter Park Civic Center 7am-Noon)
