Confessed Murder Released

ST. CLOUD, Fla. (AP) _ An appeals court ruling has prompted a central Florida judge to order an elderly man released from jail, two years after he confessed to the 1979 murder of a minister’s wife.

The ruling came late Thursday from the 5th District Court of Appeal.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/Kgovog ) reports Circuit Judge Scott Polodna ordered jail officials to release Steve Bronson Jr. from the Osceola County Jail.

Bronson is a stroke victim with progressive brain damage.

Corrections chief Sherry Johnson told the newspaper they planned to ask a fire rescue crew to take Bronson to a local hospital.

Bronson was 62 when he admitted to the brutal killing of Norma Page, a 28-year-old mother of two young children.

DNA evidence was used to solve the cold case.
