Confederate Flag Out At Hills. Gov’t Building

The confederate flag in the lobby of the Hillsborough County government building is coming down.

Commissioners voted unanimously to remove it Thursday and put it in the Tampa Bay History Center.

The stars and bars have been displayed next to the flags of Spain, France, Great Britain, and the U.S. for 20 years.

The decision comes amid a nationwide push to do away with confederate flags—which many see as a symbol of slavery and hate.
