Lots Closed Due To Stormwater Construction

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The following lane and parking lot closures will take place next week as construction on the Mandalay Stormwater Outfall Project continues on north Clearwater Beach:

• Starting Monday, Sept. 16, parking lot #35 will be closed due to stormwater construction work. The lot is located at 457 Mandalay Ave. and includes spaces for 25 cars. The lot is expected to re-open after 30 days, by Monday, Oct. 16. Motorists can use lots 34, 36, or 43 in the meantime.

• Starting Tuesday, Sept. 17, the center lanes of Mandalay Avenue (one lane in each direction) will close for three days to remove the median for pending stormwater work. This will be just south of San Marco Street. No detour will be in place because one lane in each direction will remain open. The lanes are expected to re-open Friday, Sept. 20.

Project construction began April 22 and affects some areas south of Baymont Street and north of the roundabout, including Mandalay Avenue around San Marco Street, Poinsettia Avenue and East Shore Drive between Papaya and Baymont Streets, and Papaya Street.

The existing stormwater system is currently being upgraded, and additional infrastructure is being added along East Shore Drive, including two stormwater treatment units. The project costs about
$1.35-million and should be complete in late 2013.
