Clearwater Police responded to a crash involving a Hillsborough County Deputy in a marked cruiser at Keene and Union Street at 5:23 a.m. Deputy Naylor, 23, was off duty and headed home when a 15-year-old female driving a 2010 Mistubushi ran a red light and T-boned his cruiser after turning left into oncoming traffic.
The juvenile driver fled the scene.
Officers located her vehicle a short time later in a Walgreen’s parking lot at Highland and Union.
A K-9 unit tracked the suspect to the MacAlpine apartments where she was arrested for hit & run without injury, violation of right of way and no valid drivers license. At this time none of the charges are felonies, so the juvenile’s name will not be released. She had also been drinking.
The deputy was not injured in the crash.
