Clearwater: Bicyclist Critically Injured In Crash With Truck

The Tampa Bay Times reports that a 54-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized Saturday night with critical injuries after, police say, he rode into the path of a pickup truck.

The crash happened just before midnight on Drew Street near Duncan Avenue.

The bicyclist, a Clearwater man whose identity is not being released pending notification of relatives, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Authorities say the motorist, Michael Patry, 44, of Clearwater, was eastbound on Drew Street when the bicyclist, who was westbound, rode directly into his path.

The road was closed for more than two hours while police investigated.
