Ceremony For 2 Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A ceremony and honor escort will be held for two Florida soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Ricardo Seija of Tampa and Spc. Clarence Williams III of Brooksville were among six soldiers who died July 8 after being attacked with an improvised explosive device.

The body of 31-year-old Seija will arrive at MacDill Air Force Base Tuesday morning. A ceremony will be conducted on the tarmac in front of his friends and family. Law enforcement officers will then escort his remains to a Tampa funeral home.

A similar ceremony and escort will take place for 23-year-old Williams on Wednesday.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says the honor escorts are being done to show respect for the men’s families and to allow the public a chance to honor them.
