Car Plows Into Florida School, Driver Killed

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — A man has died after crashing his vehicle into a Florida school.

Witnesses saw the tan sedan speeding toward Evangelical Christian School on Wednesday. Juliette Cameron was picking up her sons when they saw the car hurtling toward them. She said it missed them by inches and described the driver as having a wild look on his face. She said he seemed like he was on a mission to self-destruct.

The News-Press reports the vehicle struck a hallway that connects two buildings.

The driver was the only person injured. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office did not identify him.

The school will be closed on Thursday.

The principal expressed gratitude that no students were injured, noting the fewest number of people are on campus on Wednesday afternoons because many practices are short.
