Units from St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue responded to the Isla Key Bridge for a “Car into the Water” call.
911 operators received multiple calls that a car drove off the side of the road, down the embankment over the sea wall and into the water.
Upon our arrival we found that two heroic civilians had already rescued the trapped victim from his partially submerged BMW.
Kevin Daly, of St. Petersburg was fishing by the bridge when the car crashed into the water and Guf Hertz, from Roanoke Virginia, witnessed the crash with his wife from his condo window.
Hertz ran down to help Daly rescue the victim trapped in the BMW.
SPFR Paramedics treated the victim and transported him in stable condition to Palms of Pasadena Hospital.
