BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities say a Bradenton police office suffered minor injuries during an altercation that ended with a suspect also being shot.
The shooting occurred Monday morning in Bradenton.
Tampa area television station Bay News 9 reports the officer was investigating a domestic situation at a home around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Officials say the officer shot at the suspect as he fled in a vehicle. Manatee County rescue crews treated the officer at the scene and the suspect was apprehended a short time later.
He had been shot several times but was reported to be in fair condition.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
The names and race of the officer and the suspect were not released.
