Boy Stable After Ejected From Car On I-75

An adolescent boy is being transported to the hospital via helicopter after being ejected from a car around 11:04 AM this morning after it crashed with another car on I-75 just north of the I-275 interchange in Pasco County near SR-56. He is in trauma alert, but conscious and alert and stable.

The crash involved a Ford Ranger and passenger car, and caused the southbound lanes of I-75 to close. Traffic is being diverted to southbound I-275.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

UPDATE: The southbound lanes of I-75 have been re-opened as of 1:00 PM.
