Boy Rescued From Firey Car Crash

St. Petersburg police are investigating a serious car crash that hospitalized four people.

The accident occurred Sunday at 2:06 p.m. According to deputies, a 2003 Jeep Liberty was westbound on Roosevelt Boulevard waiting to turn into a shopping center when it hit a 2013 Jeep Wrangler after failing to yield.

The Liberty was driven by 51-year-old Cheryl Murdock and occupied by her 12-year-old son, Evan. After the crash, Murdock was ejected and the car started on fire.

Two witnesses had to cut Evan out of his seatbelt just before the whole car became engulfed.

Cheryl Murdock was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and Evan was transported to All Childrens Hopsital, both with life threatening injuries and they both remain in serious condition.

The other driver and passenger were treated and released from Northside Hospital with minor injuries.

Neither alcohol nor any other type of impairment is suspected
