Boy Killed In Elevator Shaft While Looking For Hamster

A 12-year-old boy and son of a Bradenton orthopedic surgeon was killed in an elevator shaft over the weekend while looking for his pet hamster.

Maxwell Grablin went to the elevator shaft in the home in the 1110 block of Palma Sola Boulevard and suffered fatal injuries when the elevator lowered.

Paramedics and fire rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the boy dead at the scene. Deputies responded at 11:24 a.m.

Maxwell’s father, Patrick, was home at the time of the incident.

Dr. Grablin operates Grablin Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at 530 5th Street E. He has been in practice since 1997.
