BOSTON (AP) — Doctors say they removed a host of sharp objects from children and adults injured by the Boston Marathon explosions. A doctor at Boston Children’s Hospital said they removed BB pellets and nails from children. Dr. David Mooney says there were nails sticking out of one little girl. Two children remain in critical condition at the hospital with serious leg injuries. Mooney said that tourniquets applied by emergency responders at the race saved the children’s lives.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the Boston Marathon bombing was an act of terrorism — but he says investigators don’t know if they were carried out by an international or domestic organization, or perhaps by a “malevolent individual.” In addition to the three people killed, including an eight-year-old boy, the bombings left more than 170 people wounded.
