Bombs, Grenades Found In Jacksonville Parking Lot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A street sweeper thought he was picking up a bag of trash but found bombs, grenades, mortars and M-18s inside instead.

Sheriff’s officials, along with a bomb squad robot and K-9 dogs arrived at the busy Jacksonville shopping center early Saturday morning. Bullets were also found on the ground next to the bag of military grade contents.

The Florida Times-Union reports roughly 15 stores and restaurants in the River City Marketplace were blocked while the bomb squad sifted through the contents.

About four hours later, the contents were rendered safe and removed for proper disposal.
