On Monday, the winners of the 10th annual Big Tex Choice Awards for the 2014 State Fair were announced. When the state fair opens on September 26th, here are some of the award winning specialties you can sample… just don’t tell your doctor.
“Fried Gulf Shrimp Boil” earned Best Taste honors. “Funnel Cake Ale” got Most Creative. There’s also “Deep Fried Breakfast for Dinner,” and “Deep Fried Texas Bluebonnet,” a blueberry muffin stuffed with cream cheese, blueberries and white chocolate, deep-fried and topped with whipped cream, more chocolate, powdered sugar, and a blueberry glaze. You get the idea.
