Bay Area College Closures

Update: 6:15 p.m. Sunday All University of South Florida campuses – Tampa, Sarasota-Manatee, St. Petersburg and Lakeland – will be closed Monday due to the expected impact from Tropical Storm Isaac.

USF Health medical clinics and all patient clinics will be open.

The decision to close all campuses was made to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff, along with emergency management recommendations to limit travel along area roadways.

Essential personnel are expected to report for work at the USF main campus in Tampa, along with the St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee campuses.

Tampa Bay, Florida — After reviewing the latest tracks from Tropical Storm Isaac, the following colleges have released closure info for students and faculty regarding Monday classes.

St. Petersburg College says it will keep classes going as scheduled Monday, however, they will review the decision after the 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Keiser University’s Tampa campus will be closed for on-campus students on Monday for day and evening classes. Faculty and staff may be asked to report should the weather improve. All online students and faculty should plan for normal activity without disruption.  The campus will re-open for regularly scheduled classes on Tuesday, Aug. 28. The school says they will keep students, faculty and staff informed with updated information via the website: www.keiseruniversity.edu and the emergency hotline at 1-877-353-4737.

Keiser University Lakeland campus will remain open Monday, however, students who are unable to attend due to safe travel or childcare concerns will not be penalized.

Southeastern College’s Tampa campus will also be closed for on-campus STUDENTS Monday, Aug. 27 for day and evening classes. Faculty and staff may be asked to report should the weather improve.  Any online students and faculty should plan for normal activity without disruption.  The campus will re-open for regularly scheduled classes on Tuesday, Aug. 28. South Florida State College will also close all campuses and off-site locations in Highlands, Hardee, and DeSoto counties will be closed Monday, Aug. 27. The college plans to reopen on Tuesday, Aug. 28, with normal business hours.

Rasmussen College Tampa Bay Area campuses will be closed on Monday, Aug. 27.  This includes the Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon, New Port Richey/West Pasco and Land O’Lakes/East Pasco campuses. The College says it is closely monitoring National Weather service reports on this storm and will reopen the campus once it is safe for our students, staff and faculty to return. Currently, the College plans to reopen on Tuesday, Aug. 28.  For status updates on the campus closure, students are advised to contact the Student Emergency Hotline at (866) 547-4803.

Everest University Brandon Campus will be closed Monday due to Tropical Storm Isaac.
