Baby Found in Freezer

Police say a 27-year-old woman, who was transported to a Port Charlotte hospital for heaving bleeding Sunday night, had a secret.

Hospital workers told police they might want to go back to the woman’s home because apparently she had given birth to a baby.

When the officers went back to the woman’s house, they found the infant’s body in a freezer Monday night and now authorities in Charlotte County say an autopsy is pending for an infant whose body was found in a freezer at the Punta Gorda home.

Punta Gorda police told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune the baby’s death is considered suspicious and numerous law enforcement agencies are investigating.

According to a police report, paramedics and police were called to the home Sunday night for a medical emergency involving a 27-year-old woman, who was transported to a Port Charlotte hospital for heavy bleeding.
