A stolen car report led police in Ocala on a chase that spanned three counties.
Wednesday morning around 7:00 a.m., the Ocala Police Department received a report of a stolen 2008 Black Dodge Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck from Too Your Health Spa, located at 2841 SW 20th St., Ocala, FL. A report was issued to be on the look out for the suspect vehicle.
A short time later, the Ocala police say they received information that deputies with the Marion
County Sheriff’s Office had located the stolen vehicle. After the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit started.
The pursuit spanned multiple counties including Marion, Levy, Gilchrist and ending in Dixie County.
According to information received from Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Dewey H. Hatcher responded when they were notified of the pursuit entering their county and was able to put an end to the pursuit.
The suspect vehicle wrecked in the area of Cross City, FL. As a result, it was found that there had been 3 passengers in the truck. One person had died and the other two were transported to a local hospital.
Working the scene of the wreck are the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol.
Additionally, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been requested to respond and investigate. No names are being released yet.
