ROSEVILLE, Mich. — Authorities are working to determine whether the body of a newborn boy that was found at a suburban Detroit recycling center is that of a missing Lansing-area baby.
Police say workers at the center in Roseville discovered the body Wednesday night bundled in cloth among other items that came down a sorting line. Investigators say the child was between one and three days old and showed no signs of trauma.
Police in Meridian Township, near Lansing, say Roseville police contacted them after the body was found. Police hope to have an update Friday on DNA tests.
Authorities this week said 25-year-old Melissa Mitin of Okemos, who is charged with murder in the 2013 death of her baby girl, told a judge she “could not recall” where her baby boy is.
