SEMINOLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Tampa man who died after he was apparently struck by lightning.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says Agustin Navarrete-Guerrero is the man who was found lying face down on the ground Wednesday afternoon at a Seminole construction site.
Deputies say that as thunderstorms moved through the area, Navarrete-Guerrero’s co-worker went to their vehicle to shut the windows and found the 40-year-old unresponsive in a puddle of muddy water.
Navarrete-Guerrero was pronounced dead at the scene and the sheriff’s office says preliminary information shows that lightning may have been a factor in his death. An autopsy is pending.
