AM 820 News anchor Roger P. Schulman talked to Sarah Hagen of WTSP 10 News about the Cops On Doughnut Shops event going on today. Beginning this morning and all weekend long, police officers will be at the Krispy Kreme on 4th Street in St. Pete as well as the Kennedy Blvd. location in Tampa trying to raise money for the Special Olympics.
Tampa Police officers will take to Krispy Kreme’s rooftop to raise money for Special Olympics Florida during the 9th Annual Cops on Doughnut Shops. Officers will reel down buckets filled with coupons from the roof to customers who donate $1 or more to the cause.
The money that is raised during the three-day event will be used to help athletes with intellectual disabilities participate in Olympic style sporting events during the summer. The games will be played at Disney’s Wide World of Sports this May.
