Aerialist Nik Wallenda Wants to Wirewalk in Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ Aerialist Nik Wallenda wants to wirewalk across one of Sarasota’s busiest streets along the city’s bayfront.

The Herald Tribune (http://bit.ly/VKpXmb) reports that Wallenda is trying to get clearance from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Sarasota to walk across U.S. 41 at the end of January.

His proposed walk will cross roughly 600 feet of open space at a height of 180 to 200 feet.

The anticipated Sarasota skywalk will be attempted without a net.

Wallenda is a six-time Guinness world record holder for aerial feats.

Wallenda wirewalked across Niagara Falls last year.
