9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial To Be Unveiled

On September 11, 2014 at 8:25 a.m. the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office 9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial will be unveiled. The unveiling will take place at the approximate time the first plane, piloted by terrorists, struck the first tower. This marks the 13th anniversary of the attacks against the United States.

The memorial includes a beam which was recovered from ground zero of the World Trade Center Tower 2. Also incorporated in the display will be a lifelike sculpture “Fearless Champions” by artist Becky Ault. This sculpture represents the first responders and survivors of that tragic day.

This ceremony will pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks. Emcee for the event will be former television reporter, Don Germaise and Invocation will be conducted by Pastor Ken Whitten of Idlewild Baptist Church. Idlewild Baptist Church Orchestra will perform choral renditions by a local children’s chorus. Guest speaker will be Retired United States Navy Captain Jeff Cathey. Also participating in the ceremony will be Captain Brian Muldowney of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Brian’s brother, a New York City Firefigher, died in the line of duty on 9/11.
