KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) _ Deputies say a 90-year-old woman was injured when a motorist snatched her purse and dragged her through a central Florida supermarket parking lot.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says Elaine Scata remained in the hospital Tuesday following the Monday evening incident at a Publix in south Kissimmee.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain says Scata was dragged about 15 feet before falling and tumbling in the parking lot.
The Orlando Sentinel (http://thesent.nl/IXQbNc ) reports shoppers and a Publix employee rushed to help the woman, who weighs 90 pounds.
The suspect drove away with the woman’s purse in a red Jeep. Deputies say Jose Luis Delgado-Pastrana was stopped a short time later and arrested.
He remains in jail.
The woman told deputies the driver had pulled close to her and asked for money.
