The 9-year-old walking along with her father on Caspersen Beach has died.
Oceana Irizarry was walking along Caspersen Beach with her father when a small plane crash landed feet from the water. They were hit by the plane or debris, authorities said.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office was notified of her death this morning.
Irizarry’s father, Ommy, died after the plane crash. He was a US soldier who served two tours in Iraq and was stationed at Ft. Stewart, Georgia.
The investigation continues.
