A new poll says two thirds of Hillsborough County voters are now ready to pay a half cent more in sales taxes for better roads.
The Mercury Public Strategy Firm poll comes days after a Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce survey that showed county residents were basically split on paying more to fix, expand, and build new roads plus expand public transportation.
The polls come as Hillsborough County commissioners debate whether to put a question on the November ballot asking voters whether they are willing to pay more in sales taxes for comprehensive transportation improvements.
