50K Honey Bees Moved From Bradenton Tree

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) _ A beekeeper removed about 50,000 bees from a tree on Bradenton’s Main Street and will relocate them to help with pollination in other areas of the country.

The Bradenton Herald reports that the expert began removing the bees Thursday.

The large honey bee hive had settled into a tree just outside O’Bricks Irish Pub & Martini Bar.

The beekeeper was stung once while removing the insects.

He told the paper he’ll take the swarm and eventually ship the bees to another part of the country that is short on honey bees and needs them for pollination.

Previously, he’s sent groups of honey bees to Maine, California and other states.
