Two Arrested On Multiple Felony Charges

Darrell Arline, 41, has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery and Shantel Moses Ward, 27, has been charged with one count of felony aggravated assault after an incident at a campsite over the weekend, police said.

On Saturday at about 11:30 a.m., Sarasota Police officers were dispatched to a campsite located at 1746 10th Way, Sarasota, in reference a fight where the victims had gasoline thrown on them.  While checking the area, officers located two victims, a male and female.  During this time, the victims called 911 and reported gasoline being poured on them to dispatchers.

When officers arrived, they approached Arline at the campsite.  Arline was irate and would not speak to officers. Officers could smell a strong smell of gasoline in the area.  Officers walked through the campsite and came across a hostile female who was uncooperative as well.  Ward, the girlfriend of Arline, told another female in the campsite, “if he goes to jail, I’ll be coming after you.”

The victims filled out a witness statement and told officers the argument was over a spark plug for a scooter for Arline.  The victims told officers Arline was given $6 the night before for a new spark plug.

The male victim told officers he came out of his campsite area earlier in the day and walked by Arline’s campsite and stated, “F— boy and c—- and I’ll kill you” and began pouring gasoline on people.  The female victim told officers that Ward followed her out of the campsite and verbally threatened her and pulled out a knife.

Arline was arrested and charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery for pouring gasoline on the victims and holding a lighter at the time.  Ward was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after pulling out a knife and threatening one of the victims.  Both Arline and Ward were transported to the Sarasota County Jail.
